Silver Ainomae - Principal Cello

Silver is the newest member of the CSO for the 2009/2010 season.  He has performed in nearly 30 different countries.  Silver was born in Tallinn, Estonia and began to play cello at age 6.  He moved to Finland at age 8 and continued his studies at the Turku Conservatory.  In 1994 Silver was accepted to the prestigious Sibelius-Academy Department for Young Performers where he subsequently earned a Master of Music degree.  He then continued his studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music and the Razumovsky Academy.  Silver is a Prize-winner of several International Cello Competitions, including the Isang Yun Competition in South-Korea (2003), Witold Lutoslawski Competition in Poland (2005) and Paulo Cello Competition in Finland (2007).  Prior to joining the Colorado Symphony he performed with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, and the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.  Silver has performed as soloist with Zürich Chamber Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Estonian National Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.  When he’s not playing cello you can find Silver playing tennis, b-ball, or dreaming of going really really fast on a motorcycle.
